Ukiah’s Story
Let me tell you about “my boy”.
2 years ago a Malamute was dropped off in front of my house.I live on a dead end street. The truck dropped him off and just drove away. This “boy” came right up when I called him..Skinny-Matted- Dirty-AND He smelled REALLY BAD!!..The ONLY PLACE I had ever seen an animal in such bad condition was on Animal Planet..On the shows about abused and neglected animals left abandoned…..
So-off we went-to the vet..Not chipped-But I found out he was dying of Heart worms, Pneumonia and Hook Worms..The Pads on his feet were raw and bloody..He weighed 60 lbs and was about 2 years old.My vet was not confident in his chances to survive but I helped him in and out of the house and fed him chicken soup with noodles and baby food..Slept on the floor with him when he cried and had “bad dreams”….But he made it..and thrived..and became a big part of my family. Now he weighs about 80 lbs. His coat is shiney-even his cowlicks!!
Then I took him to have his teeth cleaned and my vet found a spot which she removed. We had it biopsied and it came back Malignant Melanoma. My boy has been thru so much and now we are going to fight this-TOGETHER.
On my vets advice I had some tests run..And it doesn’t seem to be anywhere in Lymph nodes-Stomach-Lungs etc. He is a STRONG BOY who has made it thru so much adversity and I believe he can make it thru this also with a bit of help and prayers. Yes-he does have beginning cataracts…and his back legs don’t work as good as they should [we think he may have been beaten or even hit by a car] so he “trips” occasionally going up stairs…But “Ukiah” is the GREATEST BOY….Happy all the time-Big Smiles-Tail Wags and Kisses for everyone. Just the GREATEST TEMPERMENT.
He owns HUGE PIECES of our hearts.
