Dear Dog and Cat Cancer Fund,
Lola and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Lola is a loving, spirited, passionate, very brave and intuitive, 7 1/2 year old German Shepherd-Husky-mix dog. I am her devoted and grateful owner, guardian, witness, and companion. We live together in my art studio, which is attached to a big house in the middle of a pine forest in the Berkshires area of Western Massachusetts. Since my unexpected divorce in 2006, I have rented the big house out as a vacation rental to keep from having to give the keys to the bank.
Lola was a rescue dog, and she almost died at four months old of parvo virus, just after I had adopted her from an ad in the paper. Her vet calls her our miracle girl because she pulled through and is now almost eight years old. She is a real athlete and very much loves to run and leap through the woods that surround our house.
This past fall, we found out that she has cancer in her left, front ankle (at the dew claw), and that she needed surgery and radiation treatment in order to make sure that the cancer wouldn’t spread to the rest of her body.
Now, you, The Dog and Cat Cancer Fund, have offered us $1,200 of funding to see us through to the end of her treatment. We are so completely grateful. Lola is not out of the woods. I don’t know if all the cancer was removed by the surgery and radiation, and I don’t know what this possible infection may mean. I cannot tell you how grateful I am that Lola will continue to have the care and treatment necessary to make sure that her healing is complete and she is restored to being the joyful soul she always has been. If you could meet her, you would understand. I’ve included some pictures of her before the cancer, as well as pictures from today, so you will see what I pray for.
Thank you so very much,
Sincerely,
Lola and Sharon
