My sweet little Charlie is an 8 year old Aussie/Rottweiler mix (we think). He has been my constant companion for the last six years. By my side during some incredibly rough times and was always there shoving his little face under my hand to make sure I knew he was there for me. He went to work with me every day and was the official shop dog at the store I managed; greeting all customers and their pets with open paws. He did tricks to entertain and would occasionally wander in to the local pizza restaurant and sit pretty for a meatball.

Last September, I lost my job and although I was managing with the meager resources I had, nothing could have prepared me for what was about to happen.

I took Charlie to the vet to check out a little cough he had developed and the X-ray showed a large tumor in one of his lungs. I took Charlie immediately to an oncologist who did an ultrasound and determined there were no other tumors. This all seemed very positive. We immediately scheduled him for surgery to remove the lung and it appeared that they got it all. However, when the histopathology came back it was the worst possible news — he had adenocarcenoma and would likely have no more than a month or two to live. I was in a state of disbelief, he looked and acted perfectly normal–not at all sick! He is still just as bright and happy as he appears in these photos.

Fortunately, his wonderful oncologist, Dr. Jeanette Kelly said that with chemo therapy he could potentially have years left and I could reasonably expect him to live out his normal life span. The only thing standing in the way was money. I was devastated and had just depleted all the savings I had and could not bear the thought of losing my best friend in the world because I couldn’t come up with the cost of treatment. They suggested that I reach out to these funds which have been established for people in my situation. Thanks to your incredibly kind donors, we have enough for two more treatments!

I have had a job and have been self-sufficient my whole life so it hit me very hard to have to ask for help, but I would do anything to help my precious little guy and I am so incredibly grateful this fund was here. I hope to become a donor myself one day soon and be able to help someone else in my position.

Charlie has now had two chemo treatments and has experienced no negative side effects. He still appears perfectly healthy and is enjoying life as much as ever. He is being pampered a bit more and is milking it for all its worth! I’ll keep you posted on his progress.

Most sincerely,

Jill and Charlie Miller

I want to thank the donors of the Dog and Cat Cancer Fund for the tremendous amount of assistance. They helped me over two years ago when Iggy first received radiation therapy with $750.00. Now, they are helping me and Iggy again with $1200.00 towards Iggy’s radiation treatments. It helps so much, because I spend most of my money on keeping him happy and healthy, I don’t make much money and it is hard to afford all of his treatments. Literally most of my paychecks go to his needs. But I don’t regret spending so much money on him, I have spent almost $15,000 on him in the last three and a half years (with all of his treatments, pills, ct scans and holistic vet visits), but it is all worth it.

It is worth it to keep having my friend around. Iggy is my best friend and he means the world to me. Just seeing him wag his tail and run up to me to say hi brightens my day. I am happy to have Iggy in my life and I thank you for helping me to give Iggy more happiness and life. My motivation for all of this is to give him happiness. He loves to be around each day. He likes to play with his old ball, his stuffed animals, go for walks, eat snacks and cuddle.

Thanks, again, it means more than I can ever write in words. I will keep you posted on his progress as he goes further into his therapy.

Thanks so much.

Sincerely,

Dustin

My beautiful Taichi means the world to me and my family. She helps my handicapped wife Olga around the house and retrieves items for her on command, as if it were her destiny. My Taichi will play fetch with me from the moment my aching back hits the sofa after coming home from work, until the time I go to sleep at night. I love playing fetcj with my sweet girl, as exhausted as I might be. She protects our other, smaller dog and she defends our home in Garland, TX from burglaries that condemn the community and plummet it into fear.

Taichi is our angel, warrior, playmate, defender, daughter-we-never-had, but most of all our best friend. Please, don’t let the Lord take her from us before her time truly arrives. Help me, to save this life that is worth saving. Taichi has never let us down, and we can’t let her down. It’s an understood relationship that she and the family share – one of dependence, nurturing and a never-let-die attitude. That means that our lack of monetary funds cannot hinder us moving forward. Therefore, I ask of you, please, to HELP us.

The Borneo Family wishes to express their deepest appreciation for your thoughtful donation to help “Desert Hugh” with his cancer treatment.

Hugh is the most loving Weimaraner any family could ever have. As a matter of fact he sometimes shows that he is running the household! Hugh is no stranger to adversity. As a young puppy, he almost died from an extremely high fever. Shortly after that he was diagnosed with Lupus. Now, with bone cancer, Hugh is going through his most difficult time, but he still enjoys loving life, people and other canines. His Oncologist, Dr. Kelly has put Hugh on an aggressive treatment and we all have a positive attitude with Hugh’s desire to live a high quality life with this permanent condition. Every month Hugh looks forward to the 4 hour drive to the Veterinary Cancer Care Center. He gives everyone at the clinic kisses and looks for his treats.

Again, we can’t express enough gratitude to all of you for wanting to help Hugh. We have never experienced this type of medical condition with our animals and we want Hugh to feel-LIFE IS GOOD! Thank-you!

With the deepest and sincerest appreciation,

The Borneo Family,
Patricia, Anthony, Lisa & Hugh

Dear Donors;

Words cannot express our gratitude for the generous donation. Chance was not yet 8 when the vet told us he had a large tumor that needed to be removed immediately. The surgery was expensive and We still had to wait for the protocol for chemo……6 treatments (at least) three weeks apart, with blood Work in between. The vet felt positive.

Chance is in the middle of his treatments, but he’s a trooper. He hasn’t been sick, just a little weakness now and then in his hind legs. And is tormented on a daily basis by our 1 ‘/2 year old English Springer Spaniel named “Romeo Love”.
His next treatment is scheduled for December 21“, so I’11 keep you posted!
I have enclosed a family photo just taken last night. I’n1 holding Chance , primarily Liver/Whii and my 18 year old son Adam, is holding Romeo, primarily White/Liver.

Dear donors, we just want to thank you guys and the dog and cat cancer fund for helping our dog Sadie out with a grant of $500.00, to get her mass cell tumors and mamorory gland tumors removed and chemo treatment. We hope that this is going to help our little girl out by doing the surgery. Sadie is three years old; we’ve had her since she was just a little puppy. She is such a sweet and loveable little dog and it is such a shame that she has to have this cancer. It has really taken a toll on her body, she used to be so playful and energetic, and now she just seems to want to lie around and not do much these days. We didn’t know how we were going to be able to afford to pay for her surgery, until we found the nice people at the dog and cat cancer fund. We don’t know what we would do if it wasn’t for the kindness of other people. Some days she seems better than others, and we just wish that she could be her regular playful self again. There are not enough words to express our thanks for the help you guys have given us. We just hope that with surgery and treatment that our little Sadie gets to have a second chance of having a long life with us again.

I received your award notification several hours ago, but have been ‘speechless’ since! I’ll bet this is the best part of your job, reading the letters received as to how you change the lives of the pets, and their people, with the good work that you do.

My Leo has been with me since he was 8 weeks old. Always the lap cat I recently noticed that he would crawl onto my lap like always the minute I sat down, but just minutes later leave. Yet when I called him back he would come back, only to leave again. It seemed to make him physically uncomfortable to stay pressed against me even though emotionally he wanted to stay there. Upon examination the Vet discovered a mass in his abdominal area and after extensive (and expensive diagnostic testing) I was advised that surgery was imperative as it was strangling his intestines, soon to cause a blockage. We caught that just in time! Then the pathology revealed that it was malignant; the diagnosis was lymphoma cancer. And again I was told that he only had a short time left, perhaps weeks, without chemotheraphy. The diagnostic tests and surgery cost thousands, and now the chemo was an absolute necessity for him to have any chance. But I could only afford half of the sessions.

The joy, gratitude, relief, exhilaration, and heartfelt appreciation for what the Dog and Cat Cancer Fund makes possible is beyond what words can express. Thank you to those who had the foresight to create such a fund, to those who work to administer it, and to those who donate to make it possible for “kitty chemo” to happen!

Dear Chris and The Dog and Cat Cancer Fund

I just got the news that The Dog and Cat Cancer fund is going to donate $900.00 to help Gingers Chemo treatments! Thank You, Thank You. I didn’t have enough money left on my credit cards to pay for all her treatments she needed. With out help from DCCF I would not have been able to get the last 2 or so. When I found out she had Lymphoma (cancer of the lymphomas) I had to do something to help her. I rescued her over 7 years ago and she part of my family and her co-partner Twiggy ( American bulldog also a rescue ) is so sad and lost without Ginger by her side. So thank you so much for helping my girl Ginger with her chemo that she needs so badly. Without your help she would not have gotten all her treatments. I was told without chemo she might not last more then 3 to 4 months. God bless you and all your donors and all the other dogs and cats out there that you have helped! Once I get back on my feet I will donate as much as I can so you can help others like me that don’t have the money to help their family member and best friend.

Graciously Thankful, Lona, Twiggy and Ginger Tampa, Fl.

Words cannot begin to express how thankful we are for the Dog and Cat Cancer Fund helping us to pay for our little man’s cancer treatment. We adopted Ender (and his twin brother Echo) from our local shelter when they were eight weeks old; they have become our children, and we don’t know what we would do without them.

Once we got a tentative diagnosis and brought him to NC State Vet College for a treatment plan we found out he was full of masses, had massive amounts of fluid on his abdomen, and may not make it through the night. Needless to say we have never been more devastated in our lives. After a weekend in an oxygen tank, two blood transfusions and two chemo treatments, he was able to come home. We are proud to say that he has defied all the odds and gone from stage Vb to now being in a clinical remission!!

We have put absolutely everything we had into treating him thus far, which with our massive bills and student loans isn’t much. Due to the fact that he was in the ICU for a weekend and there were some difficulties in diagnosing him, we racked up thousands of dollars in medical expenses in the first week and a half alone. We have willingly put ourselves into debt to at least get him started with chemo, but we wouldn’t think twice about it because he is our life.

Ender is only three years old, much to young to have to deal with something like this and definitely too young to have his life end because of it – he’s already fought so hard and he deserves for us to help him win that fight! He has such a huge personality, he can have the most serious face one moment and the next crack us up with his insane energy. This financial assistance will make sure we can complete his chemotherapy treatments so he can hopefully live the long life he deserves.

Thank you so much for helping us save our baby boy!!
